Grant from TasPorts 2023
On Sunday, October 1st, Our volunteers joined forces with our local emergency services, including Tasmania Police, Surf Life Saving Tasmania, Sea Rescue Tasmania, Ambulance Tasmania, and our local Surf Clubs for a joint southern Search and Rescue (SAR) exercise. This exercise took place near Iron Pot & South Arm under typical but real-world conditions.
Our dedicated volunteers had the opportunity to put their skills to the test, ensuring that we are always ready to respond when the boating community needs our assistance.
Additionally, we were able to utilise our new equipment and skills, made possible by a recent Community Grant from TasPorts. This grant allowed us to acquire a water rescue dummy from LifeTec, weighing 40kg on dry land and increasing to approximately 65kg in the water, adding a valuable element of realism to our training and exercises.
We would like to express our gratitude to TasPorts for their support in enhancing our rescue capabilities. Together, we are better prepared to serve and protect our boating community.
