Rotary Club of Kingston Supports New Rescue Vessel with Generous Donation
Volunteer Marine Rescue Kingborough would like to sincerely thank the Rotary Club of Kingston for its generous donation towards our new rescue vessel.
VMRK Committee Member Andrea Smith recently spoke at a Rotary Club of Kingston meeting, where she explained the work undertaken by our volunteers and the services we provide to the community. This includes responding to boating emergencies, supporting other emergency service organisations and promoting boating safety, education and awareness throughout southern Tasmania. Andrea also provided members with an update on the progress of our new rescue vessel.
The donation will assist us with purchasing a new VHF marine radio. Reliable radio communications are essential during marine rescue operations, allowing our crew to remain in contact with shore-based stations, emergency services and other vessels, particularly in areas where mobile phone coverage may be limited.
As we prepare for our new rescue vessel to enter service this summer, support such as this makes a genuine difference. We greatly appreciate the generosity of the Rotary Club of Kingston and look forward to welcoming its members for a tour aboard our new vessel once it’s operational.
