Hydro Tasmania Community Grant Supporting VMR Kingborough

Volunteer Marine Rescue Kingborough is proud to be one of nine Tasmanian organisations receiving funding through Hydro Tasmania’s 2026 Community Grants Program.

The grant will assist us with upgrading our inflatable rescue boat, helping provide our volunteers with improved equipment for emergency response, flood rescue training, water safety education and Surf Life Saving activities.

Our inflatable rescue boat is an important and versatile part of our capability. Its size and manoeuvrability allow it to be used in areas where larger rescue vessels may not be suitable, while also providing a valuable platform for training and community safety activities.

As a volunteer-run organisation, we rely heavily on grants, sponsorships, donations and fundraising to maintain and improve our equipment. While sausage sizzles certainly help, we can’t survive on sausage sizzles alone!

Support from organisations such as Hydro Tasmania makes a genuine difference and helps us continue building the skills, equipment and capability needed to serve the community across southern Tasmania.

We sincerely thank Hydro Tasmania for supporting Volunteer Marine Rescue Kingborough and for recognising the important work undertaken by volunteer organisations throughout Tasmania.
